Jim Krahn has lived in Kelowna, British Columbia since 1959. He was a student of Fine Arts at Okanagan College, excelling in Painting, Printmaking, Photography and Sculpture. Travelling to New Zealand, backpacking and hiking in the Okanagan and West Coast of BC has been a source of inspiriation to his art.
For the past 20 years, Jim's focus has been sculpture - using natural materials from BC and exotic wood and stone from other countries. Working in alabaster, marble, BC soapstone, Brazilian soapstone, Purpleheart wood, Bass, Mahogany, White Oak, Cherry, Walnut,Cedar, and other woods, his sculpture reflects a deep connection to his material. Using stone and wood, Jim designs and builds custom cabinetry and outdoor structures.
Visitors are welcome to visit Jim at the workshop (1913 Dayton Street. Kelowna, BC, V1Y 8A7). Commissions are accepted.
